Pig roast catering is a very old tradition. The first recorded mention of it in the States was in 1774, when Samuel Colt’s son Daniel was in the military and was sent on an American expedition into Canada. He was captured by a group of Indians who demanded that he turn over his arms. He refused and the Indians took him captive, taking him to the Ottawa River in Canada. The Indians ate him and then threw him into the Ottawa River.
The following day, he awoke in an Ottawa River town and told the story to a British officer, who told Samuel Colts that he needed to find his son and that the Indians had buried him alive. Samuel Colts got his son back, and began a journey to set up a trade with the Ottawa Indians. On the way, he got captured again by the same Indians, and was placed in a house with the Indian women, who had agreed to trade him for a pig.
This was a great story, and an excellent tale of survival, but the Indian women aren’t the only ones at risk. The Canadian government isn’t exactly known for its treatment of Native people. There is one man in particular who has his own agenda, and that’s the government’s own police commissioner.
The story begins with Colt trying to find a way to escape his island prison, but a group of Indian warriors are trying to make him pay for the pig he was given.
