If you’re looking for a part-time job, there are plenty of companies that have catering positions available. But if you’re looking for a full-time job, most of the companies I’m familiar with require you to hold an advanced degree, not just a culinary degree. The only thing you can count on when you’re going to culinary school and getting a job in a culinary job is that you’ll be working with experienced chefs.

The pay was decent, most of the guys were very nice, and I got to work with some very good people. Also, cooking with your own kitchen equipment is a great way to learn how to make things and to get some experience with cooking.
That’s a great point. I don’t think there’s a chef’s job I’ve ever done that didn’t require some kind of technical skill. If you can cook and you’re a good cook, you can probably do a lot more than just make food.

When I first arrived in the UK, I was instantly overwhelmed by the amount of food available at all the various restaurants. On my first trip to Europe, I ended up having to make a reservation at five restaurants for two people, each of whom had an entire dinner. The food was amazing, but I ended up losing money on it, because the restaurant was so overloaded with diners that they basically didn’t even serve the food that I wanted.
