I’ve been in the catering industry for several years now, and it’s a very unique and challenging field. For two reasons: first, it is really expensive, and second, it is hard and very demanding work. I’ve been fortunate enough to run my own catering business for two years straight and have learned a great deal about managing a small business vs. a large one.
In terms of managing your catering business, its best to hire a chef since they have the best ideas and training and most of all they are honest and genuinely love what you are doing. You don’t want to have a chef that is only there to make money off of you. You also want to remember that the chef probably has a social life, so be sure your chef is nice and easygoing (not a jerk).
I can’t tell you how many times I have been approached by a chef that just wants me to spend tons of money on him. And then after I spend tons of money on him, he doesn’t really care anymore and wants to charge me to clean up. You don’t want that.

My friend is always telling me how the food is so fresh, from scratch, and delicious, but she is also always telling me how it is expensive. This is where the “cheap food” factor comes into play.

In fact, he was the first person to host a cooking school for people who wanted to learn how to cook. So, although his training is in cooking, he’s also got a background in catering. Now that, he wants to teach people how to cook.

The food in this clip is extremely popular, and the owner says that he’s looking for a chef to be on the team. The chef does a great job of keeping the crowd happy and the place lively and fun.

There are countless restaurants and parties in the U.S. that offer catering, but that doesn’t mean there is a big demand for it.
